"A great coach cannot hope to impact the outcome of a game by sitting on the sidelines. Great coaches are on the field where the game is being played. My job as Action Learning Coach is to be on the field where the game is being played; in this case that's your organisation." Catherine Brenner.

The Action Learning approach focuses on developing practical managerial skills, by creating opportunities to develop those skills live in the organisation, rather than just increasing knowledge. This method of learning strives to link the acquisition of knowledge and skills in a practical way, enabling  managers to solve real problems whilst working.  Learning is real and rooted in current business needs, is time efficient as there is little time spent in the classroom.

Benefits of Action Learning are:

  • Learning is relevant to both the individual and the organisation
  • Organisational and personal growth with immediate benefits
  • Creates a culture of learning and expectation of sharing learning
  • Creates cross team networks
  • Time efficient and value for money

We are all born with an innate ability to learn through experience. Action leaning provides a structured process to learn from experience through the following:

  • Working on  'real world' problems
  • Encourages participants to question the experience and review their learning
  • Creating opportunities to practice new skill and behaviours and to do things differently
  • Generating opportunities for feedback and reflection on what is happening and why
  • Sharing the learning with those who are also learning by doing and the wider organisation

Typically and Action Learning Program would last about six months involving three distinct phases form introductory phase, creating tangible learning opportunities and feedback, and culminating in a final review day.
